Most Divorces Happen in January!
Of course couples informally and formally break up all throughout the year, but statistically, most couples are getting a divorce in January. Psychology Today states, “According to the courts, January is the month when most divorces are filed.” As the article states, it could be that folks are waiting on the New Year to kick off their long awaited decision for a serious change, or something reached a boiling point over the holidays, or just not wanting to tear family apart over the holidays. Either way, the numbers aren’t good.
These days, it is definitely, increasingly difficult for folks to stay together any serious length of time. If folks are honest, it has always been a very real trial of each party’s patience, bearing with ‘one-another’. It used to be much more of the cultural thing NOT to do. Today, it is of course…to each his own (cultural relativism).
Pure exhaustion and helplessness
For some, intimate relationship with a key significant other, has come to mean abuse, betrayal, violation, and/or cyclical abandonment…mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically and/or sexually. With every situation being very different, the bottom-line facts are…some just should not (and must not) be together. But often the majority of cases boil down to a very two-sided definition of pure exhaustion and helplessness, usually after one or both feel they have tried everything and are absolutely at their wits end.
