Are you someone who is really tired of the weight of your fear? It could be a fear of public speaking, fear of heights, of enclosed spaces, or of leaving the house. I’ll never forget something that happened probably 10 years ago. When I was driving in town all of a sudden I was completely taken over by the most consuming panic in my thoughts. I couldn’t shake it and it just continued to grow until I had to pull over. I had to force myself to breath slowly while praying intensely. Then I waited until I calmed down to be able to put the car in gear and drive safely to the office. Now mind you, I have helped all sorts of folks completely overcome dozens and dozens of various phobias throughout the years. So I knew what was happening, but I still felt in the moment, completely helpless to do anything about it.
You really can be set free!
You might call it the enemy, natural stress load, lack of sleep, or progressive and unresolved childhood disconnectedness or side effect of medications. At one point or another (one episode or cyclical torment), most folks will have to deal with a degree of felt loss of control. Clinically, the typical treatment of choice for most any phobia is called systematic desensitization. Basically, this is taking a person, one step at a time, through very gradual expanding of their comfort zone. This is done in a very systematic, strategic sort of way. Phobias, anxiety, panic, or a number of similar types of torment can all be genuinely dealt with. Through the help of a trained therapist or experienced life coach, it really doesn’t have to take years on the couch!
