No I’m not talking about what you see in the mirror! I mean when you turn over and look at your significant other. You see, there is an ancient text written that says, “…Don’t let the sun set on your anger.” (Ephesians 4:26). Bottom-line, when any one of us goes to bed angry, we are subconsciously accruing progressive hostility and rage. This will most likely come out later in a passive-aggressive, biting, criticism, that holds something against someone.
For the person who says, “Ahh, I forget and forgive. Every day is a new morning and chance to start over.” Well, that’s very true…except the forgetting part. What they are forgetting is what we cover in one of our other articles, “As The Mind Thinks, So Is He”. The vast majority of our thinking mind is buried subconscious. And what exactly do you think gets stored back there? Exactly, everything. Especially the painful stuff, and especially as we’re tired and going to sleep.
What Ever Happens, Don’t Go To Bed Angry
So if you want to be driven, anxiety-filled, over-reactive, easily triggered, go ahead…allow yourself to go to bed angry. Of course, I know what you’re saying, “Yeah, right, and we’ll stay awake till all hours of the night too!” You really don’t have to. It might not be easy at first, but if you get in the habit of gracefully dealing with the stuff that makes you a gorilla toward each other, you might not get the surprise view (or cold shoulder) when you least expect it.
